Putting the Pieces Together
So I just noticed that in yesterday’s post I said I would post last night, but I kind of got carried away working on a flyer. No time like the present to make up for that. To recap, Grace and Martin told me about the epic response they got at Camp Herald Session 2. During the rainy days they must have had a ton of time talking to the kids (and practicing bathroom stance kungfu). Grace told...

Running Back to God
Y-Cow training started Saturday morning. The games were really fun, and in the break times I talked to Grace and Martin a lot about what happened at Camp Herald Session 2, but thats for later in this post. We started the training with a time of worship and a few messages. Later on we had a few reflection times and just dwelling in God’s presence, to get to hear him clearly again and to...

The Seed
“It’s almost time. They’ll be leaving soon,” the boy said. His friend nodded sadly. They both knew what was to happen. The others would leave, and the time would come that the boy and the few left behind would have to take up the work that was left to them. “It’s still a year, we still have time,” his friend tried to reassure him. “Besides, the...

Texas!
First day of staying here in Texas, and we took a 3 hour trip to Houston to see the NASA space center. It was pretty neat, they had entire exhibits full of space rocks and pods the astronauts had used. We went on a tram tour to where the people all worked and they dropped us off at a spot where they had the Apollo on display. That thing was HUGE. Anyhow, so yeah, day 1 was mostly NASA.  Later we...

Goin Back South
Heading off to Texas for a week or so tomorrow night. This’ll be the second time we’ve gone down there, and it’s pretty darn fun. I was born in Louisiana, and even though I’m going to Texas instead, going south always feels as if I’m visiting some small part of my past that I had left down there. We went to Texas last summer as well. My dad’s worked down there...

Broken Completion
I realized yesterday that God has been speaking a lot to me recently about broken hearts. I’ve been becoming more aware of not just how broken we are as individual people, but also how broken we are as a society. I read Grace’s blog about the power of the human heart, but I have to add that the heart isn’t just strong, it’s very sensitive. The amazing thing is that God can...

Heartbeats
The boy looked out the window of the car and saw the street packed with people. There was no “person”, just “people”; no “life”, just “lives”; no “soul”, just a “society”. Every single person blended in with the rest, the entire city seeming to pound with the same monotonous heartbeat. He found it so hard to concentrate on one...

Foolish Love
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” - 1 Corinthians 1:18 I have been thinking about this a lot lately. The cross, as much as we want it to be logical, want it to be able to fit in a neat little box, is so irrational and foolish and infinitely confounding it cannot be contained. By...

To See God's Smile
After so long I finally went to Sunday church. Both the Sunday school class session and the Sunday service were interesting. Even more wonderful was it being communion Sunday. Fresh after a week of serving God in the front lines, storming the gates of hell itself for lost lives, we were able to come into God’s presence and reconnect and remember why we serve in the first place. In Sunday...
